After 16 years of significant contribution to the company, Pajo Vujkovic-Cvijin retired on November 1, 2020. Pajo brought the Dispersive Transform Spectroscopy (DTS) concept to SSI and with Neil Goldstein, used it to advance SSI’s spectral sensor development program in hyperspectral imaging, eventually expanding into hypertemporal imaging, resulting in over $5M in contract funding. His work culminated with development of the compact CONDOR hyperspectral/hypertemporal imager, which was the driver for SSI participation in the DARPA Mobile Force Protection program with SRC, and more recently an Army counter-UAV program under an ongoing Phase II SBIR program. The consummate entrepreneur, Pajo has maintained a never flagging enthusiasm for transitioning the technologies he has developed into commercial and military applications, even founding a commercialization group at SSI to encourage others to consider commercial applications in their work. We will miss Pajo, but hope that we see him from time to time as a consultant working on several ongoing projects he was instrumental in winning.
